IELTS Preparation for Bangladeshi Students 2025: Band 7+ Strategy from Scratch

A proven 90-day roadmap to score Band 7 or above and unlock international university applications.

📖

IELTS is required by almost every UK, Australian, Canadian and European university for international admissions. For scholarships like Chevening, DAAD and Australia Awards, a Band 6.5 to 7.5 is the standard requirement. This guide tells you exactly how to get there from scratch.

4 Modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking
0 to 9 Band score scale
2 yrs Score validity period

📋 Module-by-Module Breakdown

🎯 Module Strategies That Work

Listening
Predict answers before the audio plays. Skim questions in 30 seconds before each section. Practise with Cambridge IELTS books 14 to 18. Wrong spelling counts as a wrong answer.
Reading
Never read the full passage first. Read the questions then scan for keywords in the text. Practise 3 timed passages at 20 minutes each every day. Skimming and scanning speed determines your score.
Writing
Task 2 carries 66% of the writing score. Learn 5 essay structures thoroughly. Use academic vocabulary but keep sentences clear. Avoid informal language and contractions. Target 260 to 280 words in Task 2.
Speaking
Fluency beats perfection. Examiners reward natural flow over textbook accuracy. Record yourself speaking for 2 minutes daily on random topics. Join an English-speaking practice group if possible.
💡
Most Overlooked Tip: The biggest score gap for Bangladeshi students is almost always in Writing Task 2 and Speaking fluency. These two are the most improvable with targeted practice. Do not spend 80% of your time on Reading and Listening where you are already close to target.

📅 90-Day IELTS Study Plan

Days 1 to 30: Foundations and Diagnosis
Take one full diagnostic test to find your current band score. Study grammar intensively. Begin daily vocabulary building using the Academic Word List. Read English newspapers every morning.
Days 31 to 60: Module-Specific Practice
Dedicate focused days to individual modules in rotation. Writing: 2 Task 2 essays per week scored against the IELTS rubric. Speaking: daily 2-minute recordings reviewed for filler words and errors.
Days 61 to 80: Full Mock Tests
One complete mock test every 4 days under strict exam conditions. Score all four modules. Use Cambridge Official Tests only at this stage. Identify and target remaining weak areas specifically.
Days 81 to 90: Refinement and Exam Day Prep
Focus only on your weakest remaining module. Memorise the timing strategy for each section. Confirm exam booking, venue and required ID documents. Avoid burnout in the final 3 days.
